CHIMICA D'AGOSTTNO SpA has ceased negotiations with Dow Poliuretani Italia Srl through the whole extent of a potential acquisition of Dow's methylene diphenylene isocyanate (MDI) plant at Brindisi, Italy. The companies were in extensive negotiations for eight month which culminated in the pair parties signing a letter of intent onward November 8, 2002. In the wake of Chimica D'Agostino's decision to terminate further negotiations, Dow has initiated a collective dismissal proces for the 126 employee at the plant.
